So, yesterday was my last day of chemo! I was diagnosed on my birthday, November 13th, 2013. My first round of chemo started on November 22nd, 2013 at 6:45pm. My last round of chemo ended on July 13th, 2014 at 5:55pm. Yesterday was so surreal. My emotions were all over the place. I had a really hard time celebrating, because of the fear of whats to come. However, my nurse got a group of people on my floor together, and they all came into my room at the last minute and counted down with me. Then, we played some Kelly Clarkson, Stronger and my nurse Kristein pushed me around in a wheelie chair for a victory lap in the hallway. Afterwards, I ate some ice cream, cake, and my nurse Cindy even made smores! Well, I was suppose to get out of the hospital today, but, unfortunately, my counts have dropped quite low. Now I have to get a blood transfusion and wont be out until tomorrow. As frustrated and upset as I am, I know its the right thing to stay and get it done. Its best if I do it now rather than having to come back later in the week. Therefore, in the long run one extra day will actually be preventing me from getting sick or feeling miserable for a longer period of time during the week. I typically wouldnt be so emotional, but I was so ready and excited to get out of here. I have been here for six days. On a more positive note, to make every thing better, my nurse assistant surprised me with a Hersey Carmel drumstick. Im one lucky guy to have all these wonderful woman looking out for me and trying to turn my frown upside down. One more day, one more day, and Im out of here! Peace & Love -Team Tyler
