So you give and give and give to your kids and they give back, - TopicsExpress

So you give and give and give to your kids and they give back, right from the beginning, but in touch and sight and heart. Chubby rolls. Humor, occasional zen zingers. But one day (and I didnt know this until it happened to me), your kid who gave back in smiles and inadvertent wisdom and dimpled knuckles will look at you and give back some words as an autonomous human, right from their brain, like a friend would. It was 1200 degrees and the baby was only a few weeks old. We were all finally loaded in the car to get to the library for precious story time (!) and then swimming lessons. I was so tired beat up and unshowered, running late and hot. So hot. Relentless. No coffee. Grit. The car wouldnt start. I said were not going because the only other car was the tiny 2-door broke ass Scion and I just couldnt stomach that work, after all the work. So much I cant do sometimes. But I looked at their faces and thought well whatever - got into beast mode - and somehow moved two car seats and all the gear and crammed in and went to story time and on the way to swim lessons my oldest looked at me with my weary eyes from that ripped up stinky seat and said You know, mama, youre really tough. And she said it because she saw it and i squared my shoulders, said yeah, I am. Thanks, kid. She smiled. I rolled the window down, turned the radio up. Cruised with my friend for a moment.
