So you should know: 1. The Salt Lake Tribune saved the Deseret Newss butt back in the 70s so if we are talking about letting the market decide a papers fate the Deseret News would have been dead back then. 2. The Salt Lake Tribune is being held for random by the Deseret News, who gets veto power over who wants to buy the Trib, like when the Huntsman family tried a couple years ago and the Deseret News refused to let the sale go through. 3. Much of what has happened with the business dealings of the Deseret News and the Salt Lake Tribune has been done in secret and may be illegal, which is why the Federal Government is stepping in to investigate the matter. 3. Utah needs the Trib. Without the Salt Lake Tribune, Utahns would still have a corrupt Attorney General in power, kids being denied lunch at schools, and a whole host of other elected officials getting away with things like hot tubbing with minors, and driving drunk. 4. You need to sign this petition to save the Salt Lake Tribune because we may live in Oz but we need an independent newspaper to pull the curtain back every now and then.
