SoCal Friends: Join us for the Veterans Day Ceremony Sunday November 9th at 3pm. This year our Veterans Day ceremony will focus on our Wounded Warriors. SSGT Eddie Halowell will be a guest speaker and will share his story about his struggle and recovery with PTSD. The names of 36 heroes who have fallen since April 1st will be read aloud accompanied by a bell ringing ceremony and candle lighting. Gunnery Sergeant Brad Pesek, USMC will be our Emcee. Lee Williams with Operation KILO. Killed in Action Memorial Project will be part of the ceremony honoring the Fallen Heroes his battle crosses. Canine Companions of Independence will be attending with some very special service dogs. cci.org. They are a national non-profit that provides highly trained assistance dogs. Dog Tags for Kids has provided hundreds of dog tags that we use as part of our ceremonies. Fisher House Foundation will have a table at the ceremony to introduce its new house that will be built in 2015 in Long Beach, CA. The Fisher House facilities provide free or low cost lodging to veterans and their families receiving treatment at military medical centers. We will also provide information about free lung cancer screening for veterans over 50 at the UCI Health Group. Please come and bring your friends and Veterans! Remember to bring a chair or blanket for your seating comfort.
