Soccer banquet took place last night. Memorable. It is personally ranked #1 on my list for the most positive, all around enriching experience, that went far beyond the game, and I had the pleasure to hear it and see it. As Coach Wagner spoke about each player, and the season as a whole, he highlighted some of the soccer moments during the season. Doing so, he made us laugh and at times some of us welled with emotion. What he recognized - good character, integrity, honor, leadership, humility, kindness, calm, joy, reality, reliability, adaptability, selflessness. So much more than the game itself, was the presence of these qualities in the young men who played. Coach challenged each of them to take the lessons learned from the qualities displayed among them, and from the coaching staff as well, and to carry THAT with them as they go forward in life. Thank you, Coach Wagner and Asst. Coach Patrick , for being life enriching mentors in these formative years!
