Socialism is an economic system characterized by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy. "Social ownership" may refer to cooperative enterprises, common ownership, state ownership, citizen ownership of equity, or any combination of these. There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them. We all pay taxes to pay for the military for protection. We pay taxes for infrastructure, trash collection, first responders and I don’t see this as socialism. The law says if we drive without insurance on our vehicles they will take our vehicle and place us under arrest. If we purchase a home we are required by law to have home owners insurance. So we already have laws that mandate us to purchase insurance.
