Socionext is very proud to announce the launch of the Socionext Challenge in Johannesburg, South Africa in August 2013. Do you want to learn how to create your own wealth and help your society at the same time? Would you like to gain the practical experience missing on your CV? Become part of the global Socionext community! Studietrust and Zazida Institute of Entrepreneurship will be hosting the Socionext Challenge from 12 August to 30 November 2013. For this challenge we are looking for unemployed graduates with the ambition to create their own wealth while at the same time contributing to their communities and society at large. With this challenge we want to create opportunities for talented young people who cannot find employment because of the lack of experiences in the working environment. Participants will develop the necessary skills to face the 21st century societal challenges, like leadership, innovation, ICT, cross-cultural communication, creativity and public speaking skills. The Challenge will start with a 10-day intensive progam starting on the 12th of August 2013 (International Youth Day) with plenary sessions and workshops. This “boot camp” will be followed by biweekly meetings (2-3 hours) over a period of 8-10 weeks. In addition, teams will be expected to work independently for at least 12-20 hours per week or as long as it takes to design and implement the team projects. Each team will be provided the unique opportunity to be coached by experienced professionals from a variety of fields, and will meet with this professional coach on at least 6 occasions. The participants will receive a thorough theoretical grounding, be exposed to a real-world experience of conceptualizing, designing and implementing and income-generating project, be given an opportunity to build a professional network, become part of an exciting and pioneering community and make a positive contribution to society. After completion of the program, participants will be encouraged to remain involved in Socionext activities and other initiatives of the partners. The Socionext Challenge will be held in Auckland Park and Braamfontein, Johannesburg. Enrollment will take place via Studietrust and all applicants are required to complete and submit an online application form that will tell us about themselves, their proven experience and their community involvement.
