SodaStream and Channel 4 Oxfam forces Actress Scarlett - TopicsExpress

SodaStream and Channel 4 Oxfam forces Actress Scarlett Johansson to resign as its ambassador over her endorsement of SodaStream, which an Israeli company operating from the occupied West Bank. According to a spokesperson for the actress said she had a fundamental difference of opinion with the humanitarian group. She will remain a brand ambassador for SodaStream, which has a factory in the Jewish settlement of Maale Adumim. The settlements are considered illegal under international law, though Israel flouts this. About 500,000 Jews currently live in more than 100 illegal settlements built since Israels 1967 occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem. In the mean time SodaStream has become the sponsor of Channel 4’s new winter sports show, The Jump. This partnership was negotiated by Channel 4 Sales and Mediacom and the main purpose is to make SodaStream a mainstream fizzy drinks supplier and bring their fizzy mess from West Bank’s illegal settlement to the heart of UK consumers. I find Channel 4 sponsorship deal a total disgrace. We should write to Channel 4 and express our disappointment and politely but firmly request them to review their relationship with SodaStream.
