Sofia Vergara Rounds Out Her Expansive Personal Brand With A New Perfume Photo: WENN Sofia Vergara, the Colombian breakout star of everyone’s favorite sitcom, “Modern Family,” is expanding her impressive personal brand with the launch of her first fragrance, reports Women’s Wear Daily. The scent, Sofia by Sofia Vergara, launches elusively on HSN on April 24 and comes in two sizes, a 100-ml version for $55 and a 50 ml version for $48. Sofia, who continues to win over hearts with her spicy and in-your-face flare, took a decidedly softer approach with her first signature scent. Sofia by Sofia Vergara has top notes of blackberry, sparkling cassis buds and plum; middle notes of purple violet, Colombian Rose and Colombian Orchid; and base notes of earthy woods, vanilla and sandalwood, giving the fragrance a juicy, oriental and floral scent overall. (NB: Donald Loftus, the president of Parlux, the fragrance house that makes Sofia’s scent, notes that it would be a perfect Mother’s Day gift because it has wide appeal. The holiday is quickly approaching next month on May 11, so don’t forget!) The scent’s notes naturally come from Sofia’s own experiences. “I have orchids and roses because those are my favorite flowers, and they’re Colombian. I wanted to bring a little bit of who I am, my ethnicity, where I’m from, and I thought it was very cool to be able to get flowers from Colombia actually into the perfume,” she said. Like with the rest of her brands, Sofia wanted to maintain a lot of creative control over her scent. She told WWD, “I wanted to make sure it was a great product and that I was going with the right people. I usually don’t like getting into things where I don’t have a say. I just don’t want to give them my name and say, ‘Do whatever you want.’ I am trying to create my brand.” Sofia by Sofia Vergara will be sold exclusively through HSN until July 2014, when it will then be made available in “upper moderate” U.S. department stores for the holiday shopping season.
