SoftBrah: “I don’t have a problem gaining muscle, I actually put on muscle too fast. Losing body fat is what takes forever. “ IronCurtis: “No. You do NOT have a problem gaining muscle too fast. Not even Mr Olympia has that problem. What you have a problem with is GAINING TOO MUCH BODY FAT, TOO FAST. Then when you finally decide to try and lean up, you have to drop 20% body fat to look decent, yet you expect to do that in 10 weeks. You then jump into a massive calorie deficit, basically starving yourself, go mentally insane, drop a heap of strength, lose muscle, don’t get as lean as you want and then rebound like crazy back to 30% body fat after the diet, because you don’t make an effort to slowly increase your calories back to maintenance and only after that into a slight surplus. It is not that losing body fat takes longer than growing muscle, it is just the fact you always have a lot more body fat to lose than you give yourself time to drop (sustainably). What you have a problem with is STARVING yourself and then BINGE EATING, not the delusional belief that you grow muscle too fast. That eating pattern will only serve to damage your metabolism and further hinder your future ability to get lean. There should NOT be a great difference in your diet throughout the year, whether you are trying to LOSE WEIGHT or GAIN WEIGHT. The difference in your caloric needs to achieve one or the other, is not that different. So stop telling me you gain muscle TOO FAST, because if that was your PROBLEM, you wouldn’t look like shit.”
