Solid End to the Season for Idaq Motorsport - Brands Hatch The Idaq Motorsport team had a solid end to the season at the final round of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship at Brands Hatch this weekend. James East secured a top ten finish for the Idaq team and he finished the 14-lap race in 10th place. Peter Ward and Paul Curran struggled with grip in the wet conditions and finished in 21st and 27th place respectively. James East had a good end to the season after a couple of rounds of problems and crashes and was eager to finish the season on a high note. He was seventh during the dry qualifying session on Friday and kept that spot as the rain came down on Saturday. He got a good start in the wet race and worked hard to keep his position and end the season in tenth. James East - That was such a tough race and I have never ridden the stock 1000 machine in a wet race so it was really difficult to know what set up to go with. The conditions were really bad and even on the warm up lap I knew wed gone a little too hard with my settings and also knew it would be a hard race. I spent the opening lap trying to assess the conditions of the track and understand how to ride the bike in those conditions. I put 100% into the race and couldnt have pushed any harder, with the harder settings on my bike I was having to be really careful on and off the throttle and I really wanted to bring the bike home in one piece. Weve had some really bad luck this year with one problem or another and its been a tough learning year but I have taken so many positives from it. I love racing on a 1000cc and it really suites my style and this is where I want to be, I must say a huge thank you to Mark and Sarah from Idaq, my Dad, my mechanic Dave, my sponsors, Colin Wright and everyone who has helped me this year. Im glad I finished the year with a top ten and I know now what I have to do next season to improve. Peter Ward struggled to find a set up in the dry qualifying session and therefore he ended up in 25th place on the grip for the 14-lap race. With the heavy rain on Saturday he was 17th fastest in second qualifying but Fridays qualifying was the one that counted. He got a good start and was able to make some progress but it was clear from the start he had issues with his rear tyre and he was only able to finish in 21st. Peter Ward - I knew the race would be difficult in those conditions today but even on the warm up lap I had a few moments and knew there was something wrong with rear grip. I was a little worried about the race as I knew this tyre wouldnt do what I wanted it to do, I had a few huge moments through the race and I just wanted to bring it home in one piece. Its been a tough year and Ive had a lot going on but I have really enjoyed it and Im happy to finish the highest placed rider in the team in the Championship standings. I must thank everyone who has helped and supported me this season especially Mark and Sarah. Paul Curran had a good qualifying session in the dry and ended up on 19th on the grid for the race. He got a good start in the poor conditions but was unfortunate to drop back through the pack finishing the race in 27th place. Paul Curran - It was a pretty good weekend and I was really happy with my qualifying in the dry session on Friday. I managed to get a good start in the race and was doing ok in the first eight laps but I had three near huge crashes and it forced me to back off as I didnt want to end up in the gravel. After that I was struggling to relax and then ended up making more mistakes which dropped me back through the pack. A huge thanks goes to Mark and Sarah, my Dad for all his hard work, Colin Wright for his invaluable input from half way through the season. Ive enjoyed the season and once again learnt a lot from it. Team Manager Colin Wright - Im delighted that we have finished the season with all three bikes and riders in one piece and finishing the race. The bad weather was unfortunate as if it had been dry I think all three would have had their best results of the season. I have enjoyed being part of the team and I am very much looking forward to next year with Idaq. Team Principal Mark Roebuck - The last round of the 2013 season took place in very demanding conditions. I am pleased that all three of our riders completed the race safely and very pleased that James ended the season with a top 10 finish after a couple of unlucky rounds. I would like to thank everyone involved with the team this year for all their hard work and to all the sponsors for their support. Now for 2014...
