Some are greatly rejoicing over the recent kicking off of international flights from the Enugu airport, some are raising their hands for Ethiopian airlines for updating their operations and database to include Enugu airport as other commercial airlines are yet to do that. But the bottom line is that there’s nothing to cater for the weeping masses of this nation. I remember when the subsidy drama was still ongoing,my friends Edu and Ifeanyi who are wheelbarrow pushers at Ariaria market in Aba asked what the subsidy is all about. These two guys are more better than me in physical structure only that “fate” was somehow on the ‘negative’ side for them.I remember I tried to explain the much I can to them about the subsidy but they couldn’t understand because ‘generator’ was a luxury they couldn’t afford.The same drama repeated today as they heard the discussion going on about Enugu international airport.People were laughing at the question these two guys were asking but deep within me,I was very sober.These guys couldn’t understand all the explanation given to them on the subsidy and international flights but they understand what it means when they were told that Nigerian senators and Rep. members earn millions every month and that the Nigerian government spends “N2 billion” on feeding alone in one year.They clearly understand that the government of Nigeria has no ‘plan’ for them.All that these two and some others are concerned with is to have their daily meal no matter how small!I’m I to blame these two guys for not being fortunate enough in life?Should I blame them for not understanding that the latest on Enugu airport is for the good of the South-East region?Who and what I’m I to do that???In as much as I’m not pessimist,I still maintain that happiness can only be maintained there’s reasonable equity.The recent developement is only for the ‘rich’ alone as there are so many that know what an aeroplane is only when they see the ‘tiny’ structure up there in the sky!They only manage to get N30 or N50 taxi or keke fare!I believe it will get better with time but the only thing that can make this government undeletable from the mouths of every citizen and not just the rich alone is REDUCTION in the cost of governance and alleviate the suffering and pains of the lowest masses.The wealth of this nation still remain in the hands of a few.Different sectors are on strike because they feel cheated in the formula and it is my wish that every sector should go on an indefinite strike until the government reduces the cost of governance and makes politics a less-enticing game.Not only doing that,the wealth must be used to better the lives of the lowest masses in this nation and not just the rich and well to do.***Do you know that most citizens of dubai don’t work yet they spend a lot simply because their government have the citizenry at heart.It was this dubai that begged Nigeria for assistance when OBJ was in power but he replied”I have nothing to do with a desert”***Tell me,between Nigeria and dubai which is a desert now???
