Some aspects of racism is becoming so sophisticated that the intended uninformed targets do not recognise what racism is. However they feel the outcome of racist behaviour as inequalities widen. Sophisticated and subtle racism is insidious and dangerous as left unchallenged becomes the norm and institutionalised. Those that perpetuate racism thrive in environments when racism becomes a dirty word and the intended targets actual start to behave in ways to try and appease their oppressors in the flawed hope that somehow their oppressors will change their racist mindsets and behaviour and be nice to them. A hall mark of institutional racism is where those who challenge racism and shine a light on racist behaviour or policies are conceptualised as a problem and are in turn demonized to the extent that they are held responsible for the actions and thought patterns of racists.
