Some days back, it was reported that two witches land crashed in Zimbabwe. These women who where stake naked at the time of the “accident” were promptly arrested by the police. Sometimes earlier in the year, Uganda set a target limit for the flight of witches. They did so to avert witches colliding with aircraft in the atmosphere. In many other places of the world, the activities of witches are becoming very noticeable. During the Nigeria at 50 project witches association came open to declare their support for the jubilee celebration. In Nigeria, activities of witches are feared by those who don’t understand witchcraft. Some people have devoted their time and efforts to doing systematic research on this phenomenon called witchcraft. In religion, they have articulated what they called, “economic benefits of witchcraft”. Witchcraft is both an art and a science, so to understand it, one must study it; refusing to know what you should know is crass ignorance. Some Christians are afraid of witches because they are ignorant of it. When you know something, you no longer fear it. As a matter of fact, what people regard to as witchcraft in Nigeria or in West Africa is black magic mixed with voodoo. This is very destructive, yet not as powerful as some erroneously think. In the West, the members of the church of Wicca are regarded as witches; yes they are. In like manner, we have so many church witches today, those we refer to as “charismatic witches”, performing charismatic witchcraft. They use the methods of intimidation, rebellion and manipulation; many “prayer contractors” are witches after this fashion. No one should be scared by them; rather we should face them squarely on what they know. When you confront someone on the knowledge he is familiar with, he bends or succumbs.
