Some genuinly awful news for those who have been following my last clutch of royals. Last night Clementine the Pewter Genetic Stripe we hatched out earlier in the year died in my hands, the night started a roaring success with some of her sisters and brothers having their first feed - shed already taken her first some weeks back so I was shocked when I opened her RUB to find that she had lost almost all her weight seemingly overnight (She was easily half the weight of her brothers and sisters who had never fed), was too weak to really move on her own. I attempted to get some food in her that night but it was no good she was just too weak and just stopped responsing after half hour or so. Absolutely devestated to have lost her and shocked that she went downhill so fast, I had checked her fully only 5 days prior and she was still plump and healthy, I had been trying to stay as hands off as I could to encourage her to feed again so I only saw her briefly to refill water between then and now and cant honestly say I noticed a difference until last night. Ive never seen an animal lose weight so quickly. This one has really knocked my confidence and got me thinking about if I can keep breeding or not, Im sure Ill look at this from a more factual point of view in a few days but its a bit raw at the moment and Im extremely upset.
