Some info on Genesis Carnival Company Genesis was founded by the late Vernon Fellows Williams. Born and raised in Trinidad & Tobago, Vernon was a true artist in his own right. He began making mas in Trinidad, where he surrounded himself with legends in the field like Irvin MacWilliams, George Bailey and Harry Saldana. Genesis has been at the forefront of mas making in the UK, teaching skills to the local community, participating in carnivals all over the country and raising the profile of mas and carnival in this country. Now led by Vernon’s daughter, Band Leader and Creative Director, Symone Williams, Genesis has become a global carnival enterprise. Its costumes have featured in carnivals in Africa, the Cayman Islands, London’s Notting Hill Carnival and, for 2013, Genesis will be in Trinidad & Tobago with the Dream Team Carnival Band. The true carnival experience is all about mas, fusing tradition, authenticity and modern designs. Encouraging participation is their driving force.
