Some of my friends asked to see my updated bio so here it is: PERSPECTIVES SPEAKERS BUREAU Gabriella Aratow, Founder Born to a filmmaker and an anthropologist, both Fulbright fellows, Gabriella Aratow grew up in Berkeley, CA compelled by captivating stories and captivating people. She attended Cornell University where she majored in Film Studies, and with a thirst for knowledge in many disciplines (something that still motivates her today), took courses in everything from physics (in a department run by Carl Sagan), to poetry with A. R. Ammons, to Native American history to wine tasting at Cornell’s world-class hospitality school. During the following decade, Gabriella shuttled between Los Angeles and New York, earning a Master’s degree in Writing from Columbia University, where she studied under several critically acclaimed authors, including Pulitzer Prize winners Michael Cunningham and Jennifer Egan. She subsequently held jobs as: a treatment writer for prominent TV commercial directors at the production house Morton, Jankel, Zander; a financial advisor for high-net-worth individuals at Merrill Lynch; and a free-lance interior designer after completing an internship at Kelly Wearstler Interior Design. The broad diversity of her professional experience makes Gabriella uniquely qualified to help speakers strengthen verbal messages, as well as maximize their finances and finesse their visual presentations. Gabriella also works closely with organizations and corporations to find them event speakers who can inspire in lasting ways. In 2008, Gabriella became an agent trainee at the William Morris Agency. She worked on career development for Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Emma Thompson, Elijah Wood, and Antonio Banderas, among others. She left the company in 2010 having honed her capacity to manage the multi-faceted needs of talented people in high demand. Turning to civic concerns, Gabriella then spent three years in the Progressive political movement as a communications aide and event coordinator for an L.A.-based political fundraiser, who belonged to both the boards of the Union of Concerned Scientists and Americans for the Arts. Gabriella assisted in the support for candidates in the raising of funds and helping to balance policy choices among conflicting interests. In addition, during this time Gabriella earned a Certificate of Completion from the University of Southern California Ross Minority Program in Real Estate, learning skills needed to transform the infrastructure of underserved communities. Gabriella is an active member of the non-profit literary organization PEN Center USA, sometimes described as “Amnesty International for Writers.” She feels deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to travel to many culturally enlightening places around the globe, expanding still further her scope of interests, as well as, she hopes, her sense of universal compassion. For the Myers-Briggs-acquainted, Gabriella is an ENFP (Extraverted Intuitive Feeling Perceiving) personality type. ENFPs are “fascinated by cosmic relationships” and “hopeful to reveal truth about human experience,” but ironically “don’t like labels.” Despite matching up to the ENFP type 100%, Gabriella still questions the validity of personality tests. Gabriella founded Perspectives Speakers Bureau in September of 2013. Gabriella is strategic and diplomatic, and she understands how to engage crowds. She is honored to be able to meet the world’s most interesting and extraordinary individuals and guide them in inspiring others, as well as helping companies hire memorable motivators for their staff events. She feels she is fulfilling her greatest potential when she is helping others fulfill theirs.
