Some of my worst experiences are when I dont obey an impression - TopicsExpress

Some of my worst experiences are when I dont obey an impression from the Holy Ghost. While at Publix with Becky and Meighan today, Becky sent me to get an item. I started looking for it. As I was walking past the produce section, I saw a young father holding a baby and standing at the end of one of the aisles. I felt prompted to talk with him in the hopes of sharing the gospel with him. My very next thought was: I dont know what to say first. Thoughts are lightning fast though, and my next thought was: thats a cute baby you have. (Why did I not say that? Thats so easy.) I chickened out (I hate that), didnt say anything, and walked past him. After walking past him, I still had the feeling I should talk with him. Unfortunately, my very next thought was: maybe this is not an impression from the Holy Ghost. I kept walking. However, as I kept walking, I felt I should turn around and go back to talk to him. I wish that I had. I didnt. I regret that choice. Instead, I kept walking to the aisle and found the item Becky sent me to get. I found Becky and Meighan, put the item in the grocery cart, listened to Becky tell me what to get next, and started looking for it. By this time, I was regretting my decision to not speak with the young father. I hoped I would find him again so I could talk with him, but I never found him. I am so thankful for Jesus Christ, for being willing to suffer for my shortcomings so I can learn from my mistakes without being condemned by them, as Elder Bruce C. Hafen taught. When you fall off a bicycle, what do you do? You try again. Spiritually speaking, I fell off the bicycle. But, thanks to Jesus Christ, I try again.
