Some of our most spectacular National Parks, including Pinnacles, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Great Sand Dunes, Death Valley, Badlands, Arches, Bryce Canyon and the mighty Grand Canyon, began their lives as National Monuments, protected by far-sighted Presidents under the invaluable Antiquities Act. Many more stunning and fascinating National Monuments, including Devils Tower, Devils Postpile, Craters of the Moon, Lava Beds, Grand Staircase-Escalante, Grand Canyon-Parashaunt and Sequoia, remain inviolate thanks to this Act being wielded by Presidents with a greater vision than the mean-spirited exploiters could muster. There are many richly-deserving lands left that should be protected this way, and when Congress gets lazy and foolish, as it is now, a President needs to have the ability to act fast. This Act needs to be maintained as strong as it ever has been. Please sign this petition.
