Some of the thousands of greatest contributions of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad are: 1. Disciplined the Malaysians and taught them tolerance. 2. Trained Malaysian Muslims to be pragmatic, rational, practical and professional rather than just fanatic and theoretical. He indeed implemented 100% of the Islamic principles which muslim scholars all over the world just talk and preach about. 3. Trained Malaysians to be pragmatic, rational, responsible, professional and less emotional. 4. Trained Malaysians to be caring and help the less fortunate in the society. 5. Taught Malaysians to respect the elders and love the young ones. 6. Taught and instilled virtues such as respecting others, be truthful and loyal to employers. 7. Instilled patriotism in Malaysians. 8. Instilled positive attitude among Malaysians. 9. United Malaysians of all races. 10. Distributed nation’s wealth to all irrespective of their racial or religious or educational background. Everybody got what he deserved. 11. Brought plenty of FDI into Malaysia. 12. Made Malaysia known to the world as an economic giant/ tiger. 13. Made Malaysia a respectable nation in the eyes of the world. 14. Made Malaysians among the most relaxed lot in the world. 15. Made Malaysians tolerate even the most undesirable behavior from a foreigner/ alien. 16. Proved himself as a personality who talked less but did more for the nation, though he was an world class orator. His speeches were straight to the point and thoughtful. 17. He refrained from personally / verbally attacking his opponents. 18. He never abused power while in office. 19. He never practiced nepotism nor cronyism. 20. Gave religious freedom to all Malaysians. 21. Ensured peace and prosperity for all Malaysians. 22. Thousands of students, including international students, have obtained higher education from Malaysian institutions of higher learning. 23. Provided world class infrastructure for Malaysians. 24. Provided clean drinking water even to people living in remote villages. 25. Provided job security and equal opportunity for women. 26. Ensured women rights. 27. Made house, car, land and business ownership easy for Malaysians 28. Built many buildings / sky scrapers which exhibit / portray Muslim architectures 29. Provided adequate research funds to academicians of all races and religion. 30. Provided enough protection for the Muslims. 31. Built thousands of mosques across the country. 32. Allowed and encouraged radio and television to broadcast thousands of hours of Islamic programs even at prime hours. 33. Provided / ensured enough clean drinking water supply for all Malaysians. 34. Provided reliable and professional organization / state run institution to allow Malaysians go to perform Hajj. 35. Provided all world class facilities, including education, religious, sports and recreation; and leisure – all at affordable cost of living. 36. Put proper policies, standards and practices in place to ensure racial harmony. 37. Nurtured and instilled a culture of ‘action speaks louder than words’ among all Malaysians. Too much of speech freedom is proven unnecessary as much of the minor problems faced by citizens are immediately attended to. 38. Helped ease unemployment problem of at least two countries where muslims are majority of the population. 40. Helped created dozens of towering Malaysians such as Datuk Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, Datuk Nickel David, Datuk Lee Chong Wei and others. 45. Produced a team of excellent leaders to lead the nation after he is gone. Tun Dr Mahathir gave numerous opportunities to Anwar to become Agriculture minister, Education minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. What did Anwar do for Tun Mahathir?
