Some of you are still up and may read this now. Most of you are - TopicsExpress

Some of you are still up and may read this now. Most of you are already asleep. It is already election day, technically. I wanted to share something with those of you called to minister in Honduras in whatever capacity, foreigner or national. When Mel was ousted, as Adriana and I laid in bed at night wondering what the next day would bring during such a time of political turmoil, rumors abounding about bombings and invading armies, we came to a very serious question and had to answer honestly. The question was this, If the country turns socialist or communist, does that change the calling God has given us to Honduras? Can we really say, If this happens, we are bugging out. At that moment, we made the decision to trust GOD anyway. Political situations dont trump calling. God did not call us OR you to advance His Kingdom only as long as the government is favorable to it. We are blessed to live in a country with such great religious freedom. We live in a country that has a legal holiday to celebrate the Bible. But it is also the most murderous country in the world. Should we then not be all the more intentional in advancing Gods Kingdom here. Missions was never about going only where it was safe or staying only until the situation became dangerous. Unfortunately, safety or perceived safety has become such a priority that there are many who are lost and dying because there is no one with God given courage to go into those harvest fields and reap. I admire you who put your lives on the line each day, who expose yourselves to potential dangers in order to advance the Kingdom, those who lay your heads down at night in the enemys territory. In all truth, the scariest, most dangerous place to be is out of the will of God. When we are out of the will of God, we are walking in disobedience, a path that opens up the flood gates for the enemy to come against us and win. There is a time for caution and prudence. God even directed Joseph and Mary to flee with Jesus, but keep in mind that God is the one that gave the instruction. They didnt go out of their own fear. There is a time to run and hide, but we need not run when God says to stay put. So, as you go through the day today, praying for honest elections and for this nation, also ask yourself this, Does the outcome of today change the calling God gave me to be in this country? Then pray for courage and boldness to walk it out not matter what. A verse that I held close in my spirit during the political crisis and ever since is Psalm 4:8, In peace, I will both lie down and sleep, for You alone, O LORD make me to dwell in safety. There is nothing to fear for those whose names are written in the Book of Life. The LORD,YAHWEH, keeps us safe.
