Some of you have heard my incredulous reaction to certain reviews of Disneys newest movie, Frozen. Portrayals of the movie as a hotbed of devious immoral influence seemed far-fetched to me - until I watched the movie again this weekend. And though I now concur with the reviewers in my disgust with Frozen, it is not for the same reasons. Personally I am astonished that no one else has apparently discovered some other insidious messages behind its whitewashed facade of musical charm. For example, Frozen slams large families. Notice that Prince Hans has twelve older brothers. Disney is obviously intimating that families who are able to fill 18 passenger vans with offspring are spawning grounds for villains. So if you are the youngest child in a large family, watch out! According to Disney, you may be next on Americas Most Wanted. Secondly, the message Frozen appears to convey is one of true love and sacrifice. This is movingly portrayed in Annas decision to save Elsa instead of herself...or is it? After all, it is while allowing herself to be overcome by the iciness in her heart that Anna defeats Hans. We can see from this that Disney is trying to give our impressionable children their take on the real world: cold-hearted pragmatism is the only way to win. This is further demonstrated by Elsa and Annas treatment of the Duke of Weselton. Weselton was desperate to increase trade with Arendelle, presumably for ice since that appears to be Arendelles main export, but Weselton receives a complete embargo at the end of the film. Neither of the young women stop to weigh what could be important considerations. Are the inhabitants of Weselton prepared for a complete and utter dearth of anything cool and refreshing? How will life as they know it continue when there is no possible means of refrigeration or ice cream? It is highly likely that riots will break out and the economy collapse. One can only imagine what pressure the Duke is under as he seeks to obtain enough ice to satisfy the needs of his country. When these factors are taken into consideration, suddenly his actions become understandable and his case worthy of more deferential treatment. I am supremely disappointed at how low Disney is willing to stoop to corrupt our young people under our very TV screens. Dont fall for their plot. Stand firm against the wintry onslaught of their disturbing social ideology. Boycott the next movie distributed by Disney - Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I repeat, The Winter Soldier. Hmmm. Anybody else seeing a connection here? Under all the snow, I think I smell a rat....
