Some of you may know Ive taken on the task as the Land Steward for the Eno River Associations CONFLUENCE property north of Hillsborough. This 179 acre property is currently closed to the public while we develop it with trails and remove some dangerous structures. But on October 18th, a Saturday, the Eno River Association is hosting a public Annual Meeting on site at 3:30pm, and we will be leading tours of parts of the property right afterwards. The Confluence is so-named because this property encompasses the area in-between the west and east forks of the Eno as it splits at the south edge of our property. If youve ever wanted to see where the Eno River starts as a combined river - this is your chance! We will also lead short walks to other interesting spots. Our focus currently is on removing invasive plant species - 8 of them identified so far - and uncovering the historical aspects of the northern portion of the property known as Long Meadows Plantation, previously owned by a General in the War of 1812, and several Colonels in the Revolutionary War. It is a beautiful property - and this is your opportunity to see it long before it opens to the public. 4214 Highland Farms Road, Cedar Creek, NC a couple miles north of Hillsborough.
