Some one asked us a question on our Facebook fan page yesterday. He said “HOW CAN OUR (OSTAS creation) OBJECTIVES BE ACHIEVED”? Firstly what is our objective? Our objective is to break down the rate of poverty in Nigeria and in Africa has a whole. Has a member of this great organization, I have always asked myself some of these questions. Why is it that the poor people in Nigeria and in Africa are times four of the rich people? Why is it that only one country in Africa (South Africa) can compete with all European country when it comes to development? Why is it that South Africa is developed and Nigeria is still developing? And they are both African nations whereas you can hardly see any European country that is developing lest we say underdeveloped. Why is it that Ghana, a nation which is not up to two states in Nigeria is more develop than Nigeria? Why is it that the greatest know footballers of all time are mostly south Americans, people like Pelé (brazil), Diego Mara Doña (Argentina), Ronaldo (Brazil), Ricardo Kaka (Brazil), Lionel Messi (Argentina) and even noticed future superstars like Neymar da silva (Brazil) and lots more. Why can’t Africa produce any, at least france produced Zinadan Zidane and Thienry Henry and England produced David Beckam. Where are Africans, is it that we don’t have good players here? Why is it that the only black American president we have is not related to Nigeria? Why is it that Africans can’t be among the top 10 richest people in the world? Se awa nah olowo ni (Yoruba)? Why is it that even the world champions that Africans were able to produce only reigned for a short period of time. People like Samuel Peter who was the WBC champion for only 7 months. Why is it that Nigerian people are suffering? Even with all the fuel and mineral resources that we have Why was Jesus not born in any of the African countries? Why can’t Nigeria be a holy land, a place that is most precious to God. Hmmmm answers to some of these questions can not be found by any man. Only God can answer some of the questions. But even with that, WHY IS NIGERIA POOR? So many people do say that our leaders are the cause of our problems in this country. But the funny thing is that, for over 20 years now, I have always heard people saying that our leaders are the cause of our problems. When are our leaders not going to be the cause of the problems in Nigeria? When the oyinbo people first came to Nigeria, they started ruling us and enslaving our people. Our fathers then rose up against the oyinbo people, they drove them out thinking that when they leave we can then live happily thereafter. Hmmmm when they left we started rulling ourselves, but instead of things to get better thing were getting worst, our economy was very worst. The suffering that our people passed through was more brutal than the enslavement done by the oyinbo people. Many years after, the military took over, and my God, things became even more brutal than before. I am sure almost all grown up Nigeria can not forget the terror of Abacha. Later in 1999, the government of the people and for the people took over, making Formal Presient OLusegun Obasanjo the first people’s president. Things were getting better, at least that was when telecommunication entered Nigeria, but later the strife between parties (PDP, AC, ANPP e.t.c) started. PDP was the strongest then, but there government was very bad and poor. Because of that we the people shifted the power to AC (later ACN and now APC) thinking that things will get better, but instead things became worst. Not just that, late last year the Boko haram also started their massive killing, making them the most feared secret organization in Nigeria. Where am I going? What am I trying to point out? An adage says, you can not find a solution to a problem you are yet to discover. My question now is what is the problem? Only someone or group of people that knows the problem can find a solution to it. Again I say, what is the problem? And how are we going to tackle the problem in other for us to achieve our objective. We are our problems. We the citizens of this country (starting from the president to the lowest/last person) are the problem of this country. Now how are we going to tackle this problem of ‘’WE’’? I once listened to a sermon of Dr Olukoya of the mountain of fire miracle ministry, he said anytime he his at the airport trying to book a plane, at the cause of waiting the white people will always be reading a book trying to learn new things, but a black man will be on phone making series of calls. Why? Because the black people believes in the world of pleasure, and anybody who believes in the world pleasure will live a life leaving nothing for the coming generations. I have heard some people saying “I am looking for a job that will not take much of my time because I need enough time to watch my seasonal films”, or if I can just get a job whereby I will only sit in the office from morning till night doing less of no work because I am not ready to overuse my body. A friend of my once said if possible, I want money that will flow directly into my account without working, I will just flex around as the youngest millionaire. Or why do you think we have lots of ritual killers in this country? Why do you think we have lots of yahoo boys in Africa? Why do you think we have lots of politicians who do make promises when contesting and when they get to power they don’t fulfill them? Or why do you think we always have lots of people putting in for Medicine, Law, Accountancy and petrochemical engineering when siting for JAMB? Because they believe that is where the money is. The funny thing is that so many of us are Christians and we’ve forgotten that Jesus Christ was successful because he was able to hold back food for forty days and forty nights and he was able to withstand the pain and shame of the cross. How many of us can do that? How many of us can lay down our lives for the future generations? South Africa is where she his today because of the sacrifice of Mandela and others. Now Mandela can never be forgotten in the history of South Africa. How many of us can be like the formal Ghanaians president Jerry John Rawlings who founded the ARMED FORCES REVOLUTION COUNCIL (AFRC) back then in Ghana. Their aim then was to purge Ghanaian society of all the corruption and social injustice that they perceived which led to the development of Ghana. How many of us can be like Martin Luther King who always stand by the truth no matter the trial and temptation. How many of us can be like Marry Slessor who sacrificed her life to stop the killing of twins in Nigeria? How many of us can be like the formal US president William Jefferson “Bill” Clinton who made a positive change in the history of America? One mans idea can not make the change you want. Mandela was successful because of the helps he got from the legendary Sarafina and others. Ghana Rawlings was successful because of the help he got from his fellow soldiers. And in the popular Korean movie titled JUMONG, Jumong was successful because of the sacrifices he got from Soro and others. If you have a strong heart like Martin Luther, or a caring heart like Marry Slessor, or a determined heart for the people like president Jerry John Rawlings, or you have a passionate heart like Bill Clinton and you are ready to sacrifice all what you have just to make a change in the world around you, so that your footprints will always remind the coming generations of your sacrifice. Join OSTAS creation today and let us put our heads, body, soul, and our ideas together to make a positive change in the world around us. A CHANGE WE WANT and A CHANGE WE WILL SURELY HAVE.
