Some people are unaware but Windows XP is no longer supported as of April 8, 2014. This may come as a shock to some and a few may panic on not knowing what to do. Im here to let you know that you have a few options. Can I continue to use Windows XP? The answer is yes, but it is extremely important that you be careful on your habits as your computer is and will be at risk. The best way to continue using your computer would be to disconnect the computer from the internet all together but this may not be an option for some, If this isnt an option for you, it would be best to consider some things to protect yourself and your computer. If you choose to continue using XP you can do the following to protect yourself. *Make sure you at least have the latest service pack for Windows XP. The latest service pack is service pack 3. *You will need an up to date security suite program that has a firewall. (Be sure to disable Windows Firewall and use the Security Firewall.) *Install an Anti-Malware program for additional protection. (Be sure to keep this program up to date.) *It would be best to use an alternative web browser like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome if possible. *When using the internet, you may want to look into websites that support HTTPS protocol. This would be a secured website. (An example of how a secured site url link will look is below.) Secured Site https://bit.ly/1ymZ5rQ Unsecured Site bit.ly/1ymZ5rQ *Unhook the Internet Connection when done surfing the internet. *Add an additional Operating System like Ubuntu to your computer. *Scan your computer frequently. At least once a week. These are some of the best options that you have if you choose to continue using Windows XP.
