Some people criticise people who are actually trying to do something as ultimately doing it for selfish reasons. Well, what is NOT done at least partly for selfish reasons? And even if you get kudos for it, is that a good reason NOT to help out people? All philosophies and religions ultimately have a selfish motivation, whether to gain money, praise, get to heaven, enlightenment...Not saying that one should do this to seek approval, but if approval is part of it, what is so wrong about it? Who is so pure that they do anything for unselfish motives? Selfishness is part of humanity, and in a way, being selfish improves the gene pool as well.
