Some people like legalism because of a want to be a hero that birthed out from childhood and transferred over to their spiritual life. Some christians will say Im not religious, but are religions biggest fans because they feel as if their works will put them in the position that grace already has. Trying to earn God and earn salvation, makes you the savior and not Christ. Then putting someone down because they may not be where you are spiritually is only criticizing Gods work in progress. To some up everything. Religion is childish. Its a bunch of grown folks playing church. You can play kitchen too and see that both are equivalent to not getting fed. God is too great to stay stuck.
