Some people seem to have had a problem with a post I shared yesterday. You know what? I *KNOW* the difference between abuse and discipline...I am an abuse survivor. Dont you dare sneer down your nose and accuse *me* of being an abuser simply because I stated that the occasional spanking wont damage a child for life but it WILL teach them certain behaviors will not be tolerated.: Yes, my two boys got the occasional spanking while growing up, and you know what? Today they are happy, healthy, well-adjusted young men who know right from wrong, accept the fact that their actions have consequences, and know exactly where the boundaries of acceptable behavior are. Discipline was never arbitrary in our house, they always knew exactly why they were in trouble, because we would talk about it. As a result, today we share a strong bond of trust and easy communication, as well as mutual respect. So, if that makes me a terrible person, so be it. At least my sons are not menaces to society, out of control brats, or disrespectful/disdainful angst-ridden wankers. If youve got a problem with this, then feel free to remove yourself from my friends list. I wish you well, but when your brats wind up in jail for doing something stupid, youve only got yourself to blame, not the rest of the world.
