Some people were asking questions about Tony Griders post of Burge-Deaconess Hospital, so I thought I would clear up some location issues. On the left is the 30-bed brick hospital (built 1908) originally at 1323 N. Jefferson (but due to renumbering that would be 1423 N. Jefferson today). That old brick hospital was not on the NW corner of Lynn and Jefferson, but four doors north of the corner, as the Sanborn map below shows (thats Robberson on the left, Jefferson on the right and Lynn at the bottom of the map). In fact, the location of the 1908 brick hospital would be very near the large main building shown in the 1960 photo below. The frame house to the right of the 1908 brick building was actually the original Burge-Deaconess Hospital (1906). The official address of Cox North now is 1423 N.
