Some random facts about the Cats great win last night. All courtesy of ESPN stats center. 1. Kentuckys freshmen with 66 points in the win over Wisconsin, scored the most points by a group of freshmen in a Final Four game. (Take that Michigan... our Fab Five is better than yours. Besides, we had the original Fab Five.) 2. Kentucky is the 1st team to win a Final Four game with 5 freshmen starters since Michigans Fab Five in 1992. (See above, that Michigan group never hit shots and won games like this UK team of Cardiac Kids... what more can you say about Aaron Harrison, hes just an assassin at clutch/gut check time.) 3. Kentucky has won 11 straight NCAA tournament games, with their last loss coming to UConn in the 2011 semifinal game. (Payback time Cats...) 4. Kentucky is in the title game for the 2nd time in the last 3 years under Coach Cal. (See we KNEW last year was just an aberration right?) 5. Just 2.1 percent of 11 million plus brackets in the ESPN Tournament challenge had Kentucky in the title game. (Hey I know I did... so take that all the doubters out there right? Yes, but I gotta admit, I didnt see THIS coming.) 6. The Championship game will have the highest 2 total seeds to ever play for the NCAA title. 7. This is only the second time that the two teams playing for the championship both did not make the NCAA tournament in the previous year. The other time? The infamous Kentucky v. Texas Western title game in 1966. 8. Finally, there was an all time record NCAA crowd of 78,444 in attendance, eclipsing the 75,421 at Houston in 2011. (Gee, see any commonality there? UK and the BBN was in both Final Four games. Way to go UK faithful, the BBN never lets the Cats down.) Anyway, hope yall enjoy a wonderful Sunday and reflect a little on this incredible magical ride that the Cats have taken all of us on during this this Tournament. As John Clay said in his LHL column this morning, in the 15 previous trips to the Final Four, UK has never won like THIS.
