Some time ago, I shared this on my page. Subsequently, I have been asked by several people exactly where this is in the bible. It got me thinking, so I started to some research. It seems that there are several people wanting to know exactly where in the bible “God says” this. Don’t get me wrong… I believe what this states 100% and have lived through this personally. But I also recognize that some people need to have the scripture reference before they believe. So allow me to add this to my previous posting… In 1 Samuel 16, God tells the prophet Samuel that He is going to remove King Saul from his throne, terminating his reign. Keep in mind that this was the same King Saul whom God instructed Samuel to anoint as king. How can this be? Did God make a mistake and is now changing His mind? No. Saul stopped seeking God and therefore, God terminated his reign and chose David, a man after God’s own heart, to lead the Israelites. So as one person (Saul) was removed from Samuel’s life, another is placed. Deuteronomy 7:22 says “The LORD your God will drive out those nations before you, little by little. You will not be allowed to eliminate them all at once, or the wild animals will multiply around you.” This tells us that while God may remove nations (people) from us, He will do so gradually so that He can still take care of and protect us. Removing all our distractions all at once would leave us totally vulnerable and open to Satan’s direct attack. We have to remember that God’s biggest desire for us is to seek out a personal relationship with Him. So why do bad things happen to good people? Have you ever asked God “Why me, Lord?” Did you do so with malice in your heart? I know I have. I wanted to know why, after I had worked so hard and for so long, was my “Dream” being taken away from me. The fact of the matter was that I was living for myself and, just like Samuel, I had stopped seeking God’s will in my life. I would tell myself, congratulate myself even, on all my accomplishments! The problem is that 1 Thessalonians 5:18 tells us to give thanks to God in ALL things. That’s not what I was doing. So God removed those “obstacles” in my life that were preventing me from seeking his wisdom. So what’s the point? God will put us into situations, and place people in our path, for HIS reasons. He does this so we can grow. Not just for ourselves, but so that we can grow closer to HIM! Is there an individual scripture that says this directly? Not that I’ve found. But you also have to remember that the bible is the INSPIRED word of God. It’s not a biography of every single word God has ever spoken. I pray for those that require a passage from the bible before they will believe and allow God to work in their lives. Those are the ones that are truly needing that quote above. If you require “proof” that God is working in your life before you will “allow” God to work in your life, you will probably be waiting for a long time. It’s a thing called FAITH. Faith that what God has planned for you really is BETTER than what we have planned for ourselves. If you need an actual Bible passage to accept this, then I challenge you to go back and read Romans 4 & Acts 23. Both are excellent examples of what this is all about. I know this has been EXTREMELY long and I probably lost most people along the way, but God’s been hitting me with this for the past several days. Don’t allow your personal need for answers and references dictate whether or not God is working in your life. He IS! And He wants to do so much more if we will only get out of His way.
