Some time in the second week of August, 1944, Charles Kiley - TopicsExpress

Some time in the second week of August, 1944, Charles Kiley arrived back in the states unexpectedly, for a month’s furlough and a two-month assignment to work in the newly-established Stars and Stripes New York Office. Billee immediately took the train from Asheville to New York; Charles met her at Penn Station where they saw each other again for the first time since April of 1942. They were married a few days later on August 17, Billee wearing a borrowed wedding dress because there hadn’t been time to shop for one. Charles’ brother, John’s hobby was photography, especially film photography. He routinely used 8mm color film, relatively unusual for the time.
