Some whove been following saw me post a while back about my 21 yr old son contacting me in email. Well...heres an update on things. When my ex girlfriend had our son, she got married to a guy. He got cancer and died when our son Eric was 5 yrs old. Since the age of 5, hes not been told the story of how he was brought into this world. He was not told at any time that I was still alive. He found my name on his birth certificate and asked about me, then looked me up on the web. When he contacted me, I reached out to his mother as Id had an agreement with her that if he ever did contact me, Id reach out to her first. I thought shed told him things but shed never done so. I asked her that before I speak with him that she explain everything. She said she did and that he shut down. Something did not feel right about that, so I waited a while, approx a week and then made a decision to write him a very detailed email which basically wound the way back machine up and gave him an encapsulated view of my life up to the point his Mom and I met. I made this all about her and her love for him that she wanted him in her life and did not want a husband which is true, otherwise Id been married to her. I also made sure to express that he has a Mother who loves him more than life itself and that he has a relationship with her that he should not cast aside over hearing about me being his father in this life. He should be proud of his heritage and that he should know that hes been loved since before he was born into this life and that since hes been in this life hes been thought of and prayed for by me always. Ive not heard back from him at this point and I am sure that hes confided in his Mom that he knows the entire story now. Hes 21 so I believe he deserved to know the entire story from my side of things so that he could balance things and understand them if he chose to. All decisions of contact going forward are his as I am not one to force things since he does have his Mom in his life and she has always been there. Im at peace in my heart over this and its an amazing amount of closure in my space in the universe. Its great to know hes out there, its great to know that when I leave this life that there will be a part of me here in both male and female variations so the Earth is blessed with my presence ongoing.
