Somebody asked me to explain in my opinion what I thought the style/vibe of The Motor Rooms Fridays called the deep end is about or could be described as. I havent been in a few months (shoulder surgery, just now recovered) but I think The Deep End @ The Motor Room is more of a straight beat Deep/techy/underground house night. Although, I have heard some (what I consider) more main steam house played there before. That being said Ive not heard any DnB/Breaks… well maybe a few breaks. Its more relatable to the style of music favoured by regulars on world renown website: Resident Advisor.. Labels like Dirty Bird, Poker Flat, Crosstown Rebels, Defected etc… Check out my MixCloud page, youll hear a lot of heavy hitting energetic deep techy house sets that some consider mellow/boring while others will dance all night to it and dont consider it mellow at all. I consider The Motor Room backing/playing more refined tasteful house and I see a lot of EDM fans sort of gravitating towards that style after years of listening to EDM once their tastes become more specific/refined. I love BIG ROOM high energy stuff no doubt! But if you listen to that non stop every day, eventually your ears and your mind needs a break from the intense styles typically found at the Ultra main stage. Im not saying one is better than the other (God help those to pass judgement like that). Just that at the Motor Room seems to me, to be geared toward dedicated house heads that have moved past trance/electro/moombata (or whatever its called) and find themselves drawn more toward expertly produced deep heavy floor movers that dont involve raving your ass off covered in paint licking the rainbow metaphorically speaking LOL.. (well, hehe, half of what Ive said is so contradictory and also subjective I realise this)… I havent been out to see Kelly Kochis or Vijay Seixas at The Deep End in a few months since my shoulder surgery but I do hope to head out there soon. Claude VonStroke is going to be in FL next month. I wonder if they can get him to the motor room. I would absolutely love to see Claude play here in Gainesville but to be realistic, I dont think many people here even have much knowledge of Dirty Bird Records. **sorry if this post doesnt fit the MO of what this page is trying to accomplish, just wanted to share my opinion** - Josh Wickham
