Somehow I am on Bruce Poliquins email list -- Bruce just sent out this attack on fellow Republican Kevin Raye calling him a member of the Liberal establishment--- oh let the games begin -- here is Bruces message : Joseph -- You can tell the campaign season has begun. How? Well, you start to see some really curious behavior from those running against you. Take, for instance, my opponent in the primary election for Maines open 2nd District Congressional seat - liberal establishment Republican Kevin Raye. Rather predictably, hes touting a poll that shows him in the lead. The poll, which he paid for, was taken five months ago when the field wasnt even set for the race. Im a numbers guy, and his numbers dont add up. The true barometer of the political landscape is actual voting results in real elections. In 2012, my opponent and I each ran for public office. In my GOP primary for the U.S. Senate, I won the 2nd District voting, capturing 6 of 11 counties and beating five other candidates. In my opponents race for this Congressional seat, he lost for the second time to obscure Representative Mike Michaud, this time by 16 points. He lost 10 of 11 counties in the 2nd District, winning only his home Washington County.
