Someone asked me: How can one changes along the Camino? It is quite a valid question and I will try to explain thru my personal experience. I started my Camino in Vezelay (Burgundy Region-France). This trek is not walked a lot and only 4 or 6% made it to Santiago. I had never trek before and I walked it alone. I had to go thru a lot of challenges: - Fear of getting lost - which I did on a daily basis as the trek was very badly signed, sometimes I crossed some regions without any signage - fear of dogs: plenty of guards dogs along the way - fear of height. At the beginning of the walk, I did not meet one soul along the trek for at least 15 days and most of the time, I slept in empty municipal shelters. Walking in nature, in wilderness, across country-sides, thru forests, villages. Walking alone for so long changes you and gradually, bit by bit, I came face to face with my life, with what I had done and what people had done to me. There was no escape. Thru this process, I grew and I started to free myself of the burdens I was carrying. Then things changed, in me and around me as people/pilgrims came in my life... It takes time for the change to occur, as you have to be honest with yourself... not an easy thing! I returned a changed person. We are blessed to walk on this path where millions and millions of feet have walked on over the Centuries. Their energy are there and help us to open our heart. Walking to the rhythm of your foot-steps is very important, open your heart, shed your judgement - as we judge on a daily basis - and let love coming into you. Not two Camino are the same. I wish you all a wonderful Camino and live it to the fullest. Camino Hugs.
