Someone asked me recently if I have ever played for any football team, and asked to tell them my life story of football. Since this page is football related, I thought I would share with you my life football story and I would also like to hear the stories of others. I first started playing football as a kick around when I was about 6. I played pretty young, but I wasnt specifically talented. I just kicked the ball and hoped for the best. I improved rapidly when I was 8 years old, and ended up playing for my first team. In my first season, I scored over 30 goals, despite only being a midfielder. During my first season, I did show great displays at my primary school P.E lessons, in which our football coach always looked at. After a few good displays in P.E, I was chosen in the squad for the school team. Everyone else was 10 or 11, and I was the youngest player to ever be selected for the school team, and still hold that record to this day. After a few games for my school team, I was in fact scouted by my local football team, who currently play in the English League Two. Despite being scouted, I couldnt attend the training lessons nor games, as I had no one to take me there. In my second season with my local football team, opposition players noticed I had a short fuse and would wind me up on the pitch, which led to me doing some bad fouls and getting quite a few yellow cards. My manager sat me down and said that I needed to calm down, otherwise they would let me go. I said I would, and 3 games later I got sent off, in which my manager told me he had to let me go. I didnt play for any team for 4 or 5 years, and started going training sessions with another local team. After going to training sessions, I was again scouted by my local football club, and being at an age where I could get there myself, I was going to start going. A day before my first training session, I had collapsed and landed on my knee. My knee swollen up and I couldnt play football at all for atleast 2 months. It was an ongoing injury, and an injury that I still have to this day, which has in fact prevented me from progressing to a potential, in which my school team coach described as brilliant. Before I got scouted the second time round, the scout told me that the way I played, reminded him a little of Michael Ballack. It was gutting when I began to realise that my knee injury was going to be a long term one, and its when I admitted defeat in playing football properly ever again. -coutinho
