Someone asked me to apply some probability theory (well they asked me to do “some math stuff”) to this weekend’s card at Wembley so here goes: a major UK bookmaker see the main event as a close affair with Froch being favoured to the tune of 55.2%. They see the draw as being a 3.95% possibility. They give George Groves a 40.8% chance of victory. Anthony Joshua is considered a 93.5% near certainty to win his show event with Matt Legg. Kevin Mitchell is a 59.7% favourite to win his fight. James DeGale is seen as a 74.9% heavy betting favourite to take care of the 18-0-1 Brandon Gonzales. Jamie McDonnell is deemed an 80% favourite to take what looks an exceptionally – even by modern standards – soft “world title”.
