Someone defended a City Counselors trip to China (we have a sister city I didn’t know anything about) and it all started because the City Counselor, in the midst of all the turmoil in KC felt that now would be a good time to bring guests in tow and visit our sister city (I’m still not sure who is paying for that). I had the audacity to try and discuss the cons of our relationship with China because I didn’t see the Pro’s and how in 2001 when China joined the World Trade Organization, something Clinton had shoved down our throats that they flooded the market with illegal imports, how we lost 57,000 American Factories to date since 2001, 5 ½ million manufacturing jobs and we became 3 Trillion dollars in debt to China and they manipulated the currency to gain import subsidies. Clinton opened the door to China and through slave labor and small import taxes China was able to get us 40-inch flat screen tv’s, every single cell phone is manufactured in China, companies ran to China to open factories up and they closed here in America, including steel factories because in China there is no union shops, there is no retirement plans or health plans, the pay is next to nothing and much of what is made for these companies is made in prison camps and through the use of child labor, China has become the worst Human rights violator in the world, they have 16 of the 30 most worst polluted cities in the world and not a soul speaks about it, we are riding a bubble of cheap IT and as we put out 15 billion green boards China puts out 135 Billion green boards a year using technology they stole from us. Some companies like Fellowes shredder opened in China and the Chinese government seized the company, they never said there was a violation, they simply took the company away from the owners and now every shredder made is made in China, we cant even put a plane in the air without buying the control panels from China, so I had to ask, what’s in it for Kansas City? I like the idea that my Councilperson is here ... in KC dealing with the issues that effect us like the pharmaceutical company they expect the taxpayers to foot the bill on, or the private black police officers only meeting that is getting ready to take place or where that missing $16,000 dollars is and what we are going to do about the flash mobs and the murder rate that’s climbing to an all time high .. Am I wrong?
