Someone once got on me for warning my daughters about how to avoid being raped in college (i.e. avoid drinking so much that you lose control of your decision-making, stuff like that). She said, Instead of warning girls how to keep from getting raped, we should be teaching men not to rape. Ive heard some liberals use that phrase before, and when I analyzed it, it didnt quite add up. I told the person, First, I agree with you. We should always teach men not to rape, and most of them will not. But despite our efforts to teach men not to rape, rapists will continue to exist. That is the reason it will always be important to teach women how to avoid being harmed by the rapists.
