Someone tried to convince me that God makes us feel guilty for a season in order to bring about his righteous purposes. He said the Holy Spirit uses godly guilt to lead us to repentance. That sounds like religious double-talk to me. The phrase “godly guilt” makes as much sense as “demonic grace.” The Holy Spirit and guilt go together like the devil and love. He’s the Spirit of grace, not the spirit of guilt.
