Someone was looking for a wheelchair to borrow for her - TopicsExpress

Someone was looking for a wheelchair to borrow for her grandmothers upcoming visit and she received helpful responses. Here is what I wrote: For borrowing a wheelchair, your question is already answered and I am throwing this out there as a point of info and experience. Curious, does your grandmother use any device where she lives? We encouraged the purchase of a Drive Medical Duet Transport Chair and Rollator for my 94 year old mother and she really likes it. It can be used independently as a rolling walker, a comfortable seat and a transport chair. Its a tidy package, with a reasonable weight. If your grandmothers stability and stamina seems diminishing then this could liven her step, re-engage her physicality, safely support her, allow her to rest comfortably when needed and easily be wheeled about by another in comfort. Smart design. Correct sized wheels for moving over uneven surfaces. When we go to the Gamble Gardens, my mother starts out totally independently. She is able to stroll at her leisure with her balance tended to and shes in an upright posture with her hands controlling easy hand breaks. When she wants to rest or sit amongst some blooming wonder she just sits. Then, gets up and goes about again. Returning to the car, she enjoys being wheeled and we can cruise along at a faster clip. And on a picnic? Its great. I am including this link so you can see it.
