Something I always tell entrepreneurs, especially those who are at the beginning of their journey, is to be aware of the fact that success takes time. The reason I tell them this is not to disappoint them, or to make them feel disheartened, but instead to encourage them to be open minded. Why? Well, the process of starting a business can be a stressful one, but it can also be incredibly exciting. What it comes down to is how you choose to look at it, and how you choose to perceive the ups and downs along the way. Its highly likely that, since you are reading this letter, you want to turn your passion into a full-time business. You want to experience the joys of waking up excitedly to do what you LOVE and get paid for it! But - To create a business that thrives while doing what you love can be quite the task, especially at first, as you try to find the balance between offering something that you REALLY LOVE that, simultaneously, your people REALLY NEED. No matter how much you love watching TV, is anyone realistically going to pay you to do it? Thats where the Entrepreneurs Word Of The Day comes in : Discover. Because to be able to do what you LOVE and get paid for it requires a lot of experimentation. It requires an authentic willingness on your side to be flexible and open-minded so that you can create an environment within your business that allows for success to THRIVE. And the only way to do that, my friend, is to experiment. Try one thing. See how it goes. Try something else. See how it goes. And repeat. You have to get EXCITED about the discovery process. Because the truth is this: If you want to do what you LOVE and get paid for it, you cant afford to let the bumps along the way get you down. You cant get upset when your initial idea doesnt work. You cant take the outcome of it all to heart. You have to learn how to detach yourself emotionally from all of that, and instead, attach yourself emotionally to the awesomeness of the discovery process. I try new things in my business all the time, and there are more things that dont work than do. But Ive learned to look at these things almost as a scientist. Ive learned to look at my failures and examine them to see what worked, and what didnt. Each failure gives me more information as to how I can do better the next time. And thats all that matters. Business is one big, exciting discovery after the next. And DISCOVERY is just plain awesome. Your goal, therefore, should be to discover as much as you can within your business. Learn the ins and outs. Learn what works and what doesnt. And let the failures EXCITE YOU and THRILL YOU, instead of letting them define you and depress you. You, my dear friend, are a discoverer of modern times. Own it. With love and hugs from a fellow discoverer, Alex xoxo This is todays Daily Motivational Letter.
