Something I have to say about the Temple vs Aledo State game: - TopicsExpress

Something I have to say about the Temple vs Aledo State game: Even if you arrived reasonably early and even though there were over 40,000 spectators total, Jerrys World (AT&T Stadium) decided to close the upper decks, forcing many fans to sit towards or in the end zones (this was not the case in Austin/UT in 92, our previous State Final). Everyone knows end-zone seats are not good, because you cant tell if a player has gone 5 or 30 yards (and no one wants bad seats for a STATE Final). Im also not a fan of the site for the State games being set so early (at least in recent years), months or years ahead of time (also not done in 92). I felt that gave #1 Aledo an advantage (like they needed one!), with them having played there so many times and only having about 35 miles to travel. Fortunately, Temple is in central Texas, so Dallas is within a reasonable distance, but it sure seems unfair if your HS is in Brownsville or El Paso, for example. But, of course, like so many other things, it all boils down to money (hand in hand with highway-robbery concession prices at AT&T). Ill end this on a positive note, however, and say Thank You, Temple Wildcats, for the great memories this season, our best in 22 years! And, like I heard someone else say, Temples athletes are generally homegrown, the real deal, certainly more so than Aledos questionable recruiting, and thats why were so very proud of our town and the Temple Wildcats!
