Something I recently heard that stuck with me- we MUST - TopicsExpress

Something I recently heard that stuck with me- we MUST CONTINUOUSLY encourage our kids (whether theyre biologically yours or not- ALL children), we must be supportive and speak life & encouraging words to them... Give them our TIME, ATTENTION, & SUPPORT... These 3 things prove and show children our love for them as something they can actually understand... Love is not just a word, but actions! By giving these things to them freely AND generously, we make them feel valued, important, and secure... Dont get me wrong, correction should be given when needed- aint nothing wrong with a good ol butt-whuppin here & there (Spare the rod, spoil the child), but even with that being said, it shouldnt be abused- done in moderation, and always teach the child their lesson so they understand why the chastisement was given... And ALWAYS in loving-kindness!!! Never punish your child in anger! Lastly and oftentimes FORGOTTEN, teach our children FORGIVENESS, GRACE, & MERCY- we can do this by not always giving them what their curiosity & mischievous ways have earned them lol... In other words, when theyve done something that you both know warrants a harsh punishment, forgive them quickly and LITERALLY spare the rod... Still correct and teach the lesson, highlighting how God loves us in the same way, and we must strive to be like Him! Okay Im done- thanks for reading, didnt mean for it to be this long... just some morning thoughts as I watched our children sleep... (Theyre up now tho, got me watching Scooby Doo now, lol)
