Something I will post on a lighter note...last night, before all - TopicsExpress

Something I will post on a lighter note...last night, before all these other messages came through Mike and I had a drawn out dispute about the show Gold Rush. By the end of the episode Mike surrendered. It was rather funny. I missed the first thirty minutes of the show. I was busy putting Sophie to bed. I tuned in and immediately started getting things in on one of the men on the show. His name is Dave Turin. Dave worked several seasons as part of the Hoffman crew. In this season he is now working with a new crew. The Dodge brothers. They are having a good season, and are, on the gold. Todd Hoffman pleaded with Dave, to rejoin the Hoffman crew. Dave declined the offer. As I started watching, I suddenly had the thought that Dave Turin would have his own crew within the next two seasons. Mike told me I was mistaken. He claimed he knew exactly the type of man Dave was. He relayed to me that Dave was not a power seeker...that he was the type of guy that is content to do his job, and do it well. He will be more than happy to make enough money to support his family without the responsibility of running the show, or getting any credit. He claimed, Dave would be crazy to leave the Dodge brothers crew. It was a win, win, situation for him, and he would be crazy to pursue any other avenue in this business. I argued, that Mike was wrong...I could read this guy, and someone in the future was going to come forth and present him with an offer to back him, he wouldnt be able to refuse. Mike said, No, hes not like that. He wont take it...its not his priority. Your wrong. I said okay, think what you want...but just you wait and see. He just is waiting for a stepping stone for more exposure for someone to see what his true value is. After going around and around on this issue for the remainder of the show, we agreed to disagree. Then the previews of next weeks show came on. It showed a segment of Dave being approached once again, by Todd Hoffman to rejoin the crew. Instead of refusing the offer, Dave countered with one stipulation to Todd. The stipulation was this...If Dave were to rejoin the Hoffman crew things were going to be different...he wanted to be equal partner! You should have seen the look on Mikes face when we saw that!! I smugly looked at Mike and said, See? Thats his stepping stone for more exposure, what was it you were just saying? Hes content to just do his job, make a couple of bucks and call it a day? Really? Still think that? Mike just decided to surrender. I asked him this...How often am I wrong? His answer...Rarely. My reply...Alrighty then...think he will have his own crew now? Mikes reply...I shouldnt even argue with you anymore. I wasnt happy...where would the fun be in that?
