Something happened this morning which shocked me so much I just had to write about it! I woke up bright and early, about 5am (as usual these days), to a beautiful clear blue sky. It was so fantastic, I stood there for ages at the window just reveling in it. As I watched I became gradually more and more aware of vapour trails criss-crossing the blue sky, left by the ever increasing number of planes up there as they moved towards their destinations at Heathrow and Luton. Am I correct that they dump their fuel before they land and that is what the vapour is? If that is incorrect, please enlighten me. All I can say is that now, a couple of hours later, I am looking up at a completely grey, overcast, vapour-filled sky, TOTALLY MAN-MADE! I actually watched it happening so I know its true. There isnt a trace of sun or blue sky now. Im a good twenty miles from both airports, but theyve still left a hell of a mess. Maybe this is the true reason why every early bright blue morning ends up in no time as a murky mess! If this is the kind of legacy we are leaving to future generations, I really hope there arent any future generations in my family. I wouldnt want them to be on the receiving end of such willful destruction.
