Something our entire community can celebrate. This season of - TopicsExpress

Something our entire community can celebrate. This season of reflection and celebration is the perfect time and opportunity for me to sincerely express my gratitude, admiration, and respect to/of/for my Orangetown communitys history of following and living by the teachings of both the Old and New Testaments. I will not remind everyone of the thousands of acts of compassion, charity and kindness offered by individuals, families and organizations. They need no accolades from me. I will simply comment on my first and most recent experiences as one of our communitys elected public officials, starting with how you opened your minds, hearts and arms to the Developmentally Disabled leaving our State institutions to live among us in community residences. I am speaking specifically of Camp Venture, which was my first major initiative over 40 years ago, just after being elected. I fast-forward to your embracing and very generous gifts of your time, labor and money to our establishment of homes for disabled and displaced Veterans. I was joined for the most part of the journey by my fellow elected public government officials from all political parties and towns starting with the late beloved Gene Levy, the late Ken Zebrowski, Ilan Schoenberger and Orangetowns own senior Town Board member Denis Troy among the many. You are enlightened and compassionate people who have made my public service life one of joy and pride in you. Be proud of yourselves and find the joy and peace you deserve. As has been said, There is no place like home, your home, my home, where respect and charity live. Thank you.
