Sometimes I have difficulty with some birth-dates because of privacy laws and because of this I cant trace some families because they could still be alive and with us and to their rights, without wanting their age brought to notice. Just the names of the missing links would help here as I delve to bring this family to light. Sixty years of wedded life is a record that very few married couples can claim for golden weddings are few and far between. But one that occurred in the Hawkesbury district, and was celebrated in the Comleroy School of Arts in 1867. Alfred Case, who was born at Kurrajong, was united in the holy bonds of marriage to Sarah Hulbert on January 30th 1867 at Portland Head. Alfred Case was born January 1st 1847 at East Kurrajong. His lovely bride Sarah Hulbert was born February 22nd 1849 at Sackville. They were married in the historic Presbyterian Church at Ebenezer, by the Rev. Mr McPhee. Alfred and Sarah Case settled down on the Bullridge (East Kurrajong), and lived there for many years. They reared a family of ten sons and three daughters. Alfred, was a well-known carpenter and builder in his younger days, and had the reputation of being a fine tradesman. He was also a sawyer of some note and spent some years in the pit cutting bridge planking and other classes of timber. The floors and joists of many of the houses in Windsor and Richmond were cut by him, and he also cut the decking of the original bridges over the Hawkesbury River at Windsor and Richmond, and also the timber for the Redbank Creek bridge at North Richmond, which made way for a new bridge. In the avocation of a pit sawyer he was associated with his brother the late Walter Case, and the brothers were regarded as the champions of the district at the profession.
