Sometimes its those random strangers who tell us just the right things we need to hear. I went to the bank today and while sitting I saw a man and a woman approach (I found out it was his sister). He was using a walking aid so I got up and gave him my seat and he thanked me. Then his sister thanked me. He saw me playing with a ring on my finger and he looked up at me and said I want to wish you a happy wedding anniversary ... Lost for a few seconds because of how he caught me offguard, I found myself laughing with him as he joked about catching me unexpectedly. This sparked conversation between us which shifted from one thing to religion; Christianity and Islam in particular. He explained to me that he had converted from Islam to Christianity. Funny thing is, the Bank, ironically, always finds me in conversation with random strangers about christianity. Ha. The gentleman then started reading me and telling me that I seem like the meticulous type and he is certain he is speaking with an academic. I took offence. He told me not to. But just then it was my turn in the line so I excused myself from the conversation. When I was finished with my business, I walked up to him explaining that it would be rude of me not to acknowledge him once more before I left. He grabbed my hand and said: Do not impress. Impact for the rest of your life! He said this three times. I thanked him for his message as his sister smiled with me also and I walked out the bank. Smiling to myself like a blissful idiot, I repeated his words: Do not impress. Impact for the rest of your life! ...I think Ive found a mantra.
